I am a retired elementary educator and school librarian who was born with a passion for reading. Over my 30+ year career of teaching studenst in grade PreK-5th Grade, I have seen the power that books hold to change lives, especially when shared intentionally with children. I am excited to share the magical world of the KidLit community with you!

Together we can connect, inspire, ignite, activate, engage and cultivate meaningful reading and writing experiences for children, and empower them to dream big and bravely to create a future filled with sundlight and peacabilities!

“On average I'm fortunate enough to speak to close to 100 elementary schools a every year. There                              are few teachers who have had their students and school as ready as Susan Geidner did for me.

F.                    From the moment I walked in the warm greeting, the decorations and preparations made to host me             were stellar. The students were excited and eager to hear what I had to say. As an author and illustrator  you can't ask for anything better. She made it not only a memorable experience for me, but she allowed me to make it a memorable experience for them. Thank you so much for the wonderful opportunity you gave me.”

Ocean Tales:

Grandson of Jacques Cousteau visits Avoca West

“To prepare for the arrival of marine biologist Fabien Cousteau, and celebrate the release of his first graphic novel, Great White Shark Adventure, students, teachers, and even some parents embraced the idea of making the library look like the sea. One student brought a self-created 5 foot submarine. Others came with dioramas, a shark pillow and actual shark teeth. Some made paper sharks and other fish to hang from the ceiling. Windows were covered with blue cellophane. Students were totally engrossed in the subject and did much online research in advance of Fabien’s visit. To top it all off all students and Fabien were given custom red wool beanies in tribute to Fabien’s grandfather, Jacques Cousteau.”

“Good night, sorry for the late text. I just wanted to say thank you for everything you have done. You made learning and going to school so fun  and you are helping our world become a happier and healthier place! You and Kim (Phuc) are just amazing people trying to help people! If people think you are just a librarian I think they need to think again!”
